FAQ

What does this calculator do?

The University of St Andrews calculates your final degree classification based on a combination of your mean and median module grades. This process can be tedious and time-consuming to do manually. This website simplifies the calculation process, allowing you to easily determine your expected degree classification, and save it for future use when you receive more grades.

Does this store personal data?

No, your grades are stored with a unique identifier that is generated by your browser. This identifier is used to save your grades for future use. So no personal information is stored, just a browser ID that cannot be decrypted! If you have concerns about privacy, you can review the code that powers this website on GitHub.

Can I use this calculator if I haven't completed my degree?

Absolutely, this is what it's meant for! The motivation to build this website came from wanting to know what grades I would need to achieve to maintain a certain classification. Experiment by entering hypothetical grades for future modules to see how low your grades can be before it impacts your classification.

What methodology does this website use for classification calculation?

In 2023, the University of St Andrews implemented a new degree classification system that applies to all students. If you believe the system has been updated, please contact me via email to let me know.
